John Medina's Brain Rules
Entry 001: A letter of introduction
Hello there. I’m a short, overweight scientist with a beard. Specifically, I’m a brain guy, with a meddlesome, curious lifelong interest in how people learn things. This substack is devoted to explaining the little we know about how the brain accomplishes this remarkable feat.
At one level, it’s fool’s errand, a bit like trying to describe the Pacific Ocean by examining buckets of saltwater. Yet I’ve been studying the organ, mostly as a private research consultant, for more than 30 years. I’d like to share with you something about how it functions, one bucketful at a time.
So … if you’re interested in how brains work, your co-worker’s brain, your friend’s brain, your brain, you might want to click on the first article in this series “A Golden Ticket to Amazing”.
And if you really like what you’re reading, or simply wish to see how many buckets I go through before I give up, feel free to subscribe.
Glad you got this far. Thanks for reading!
John Medina
